Combo Special guitarist, Ed Schultz, passed away unexpectedly at home in Cedar Crest, NM, on Feb. 16, 2015 from complications of colon cancer. He is survived by Sharon Grigg, his longtime partner.

Combo Special played their last gig with Ed on Jan. 31, 2015 at Los Cuates (formerly Pete's) in Sandia Park. In front of family, friends, and fans, Ed played his usual style of smokin' finesse on guitar and lit the band up.

Although Combo Special was originally a four piece group (the little band with no "stinking guitar"), Ed was actually working with Combo Special from early on. He played guitar on the first CD, "It Is What It Is", as well as engineering and mixing it along with Randy Clark. Ed joined the band full time on guitar in 2007, and later, along with Randy Clark, produced the second CD titled "Combo Special". Ed was an award winning sound engineer who worked with Sid Fendley and Susan Clark at Mountain Road Studios. He and Randy Clark won the 2006 New Mexico Music Awards for "Best Engineered", "Best Produced" and also "Best Album" for Susan Clark's CD "Waiting for the Wind". Ed also spent several years editing and mixing the Chicago Symphony weekly radio show.

Ed will be greatly missed!!!
